THE CAR IS 1978 280Z .CAR WILL START FINE,IDLE ROUGH FOR 5MINUTES THEN RUN SMOOTH FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THEN DIES(LIKE IF SOMEONE TURNED OFF THE IGNITION) WONT RESTART FOR 10MINUTES AND WILL DIE AGAIN.I JUST DONT KNOW WHERE TO START.
ANYONE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

sounds like classic spark box failure. when the car dies. remove the ignition coil wire from the distrbutor cap, put the end of the wire so that a spark will have to jump a gap of about 3/8 of an inch. turn the key to the start position. i bet you dont get a spark,

I think I am saying the same thing our friend is. When all else fils and there si no other explanation for this, it is the electric ignition, or (trignition" unit. THis is the computer on the passenger footwell area that controls the spark timing. This is a heat-related failure. Electric components containing resitors fail over time, resulting in this kind of sudden failure. What happens is you start the car, it runs, the unit heats up, and then it fails when it gets to a certain temp. You turn the caroff, it cools down, runs fine, heats up, and boom! again.
