I have a 78 280z 2+2 with just over 200,000 miles (best car I ever owned). I've had it for over 5 years and have driven it from Colorado to Florida and all over the east coast. I've kept the engine in good shape with frequent tune-ups and the like. However, about three weeks ago I took it to a so-called Z expert to have the valves adjusted. My Z ran worse after I got it back, with a louder tick and rattle under the valve cover. On New Years eve my engine blew while driving from Wilmington, NC to Raleigh NC.

Anyone know where I can get it rebuilt or buy a replacement engine?

280z engine Needed - Depends

Elton:
What do you mean it blew? You amy just have head problems and the lower end may still be OK. These cars are known to go 400,000 miles.

If you need an entire engiine transplant - what do you want? do you want another used engine from a salvage outfit? Least cost/highest risk. do you want a low mileage engine from Japan? More cost/ less risk. do you want a rebuilt long block with a warranty? Higher cost/low risk. do you even want the exact same engine? Now may be the time to put a turbo motor in? At this point your options are extremely varied and folks on the forum will give you a wide range of suggestions. Narrow down to specifics and you'll get better help.
Looking forward to your answer,
Phantom
