I can't get my Z over 3,000 RPM's
Distributor, wires, plugs, throttle Valve switch, injectors, all vacuum lines, had the brain checked out, egr valve.
I don't know where else to go with this.
It is an 83 280 ZXT

I can rev it in neutral up to 7000 RMP's but it starts to break up.

Can anyone help

RE: Never rev your engine to red line in neu!

Your going to float and bend a valve! or do something very expensive to the valvetrain! Ask any mech. You should have a load on it to give resistence to the drivetrain.

I know you said you had the brain checked out, did you clean the connections to the computer? Sometimes dust will get in there and they will stop making a good contact.

Try taking off the kick panel so you can get to the wires while driving the car. When it starts to lug, carefully reach down and wiggle the harness some.

Know that sounds crazy but that was what was wrong with my 81 turbo. I could floor it, and the car wouldn't hardly go under load, then when I wiggled the wires with my foot it would take off.
