260z ran but carbs leaking.

Hello All,
I have a 74 260z with Hitachi HMB46W carbs. Had to make a auxilary fuel tank to feed the carbs. She ran for a bit then notice fuel was dropping from rear carb on to the exhaust tubes.
Car has been sitting for about 20 years possible gaskets are dried up. Removed carbs and will clean up and remove bowl and place gasket sealant on old gaskets.

* Is there any easier way to remove carbs, had to move distributor to get a 12mm wrench to the bolt that is closest to engine block bottom. Do I have to make a shorty wrench?

* Would stuck float make gas over flow?
* How do you post pics.

I bet that was exciting.
I used to be able to get those carbs off using 1/4" drive sockets, universal joints, and extensions. I wrap a couple layers of electrical tape around the u-joints so the are still flexible but don't flop around.
