I have a 260z with an after market aircon unit, after sealing all the ducts and rebuilding the fan motor it seems to be usable but not great. I am in Australia and in summer it will hit 40-42 degrees centigrade so I want the best unit I can . Is the official datsun aircon unit worth fitting to improve the cooling performance, I have access to one for free, but is it worth the effoft.
Thanks Howard

I have 3 260z car, two with factory and one with aftermarket air conditioning. All three of the air conditionors are horrible. They do not cool and ended up leaking in the passengers side floorboard. I recommend that you get used to the open-60 form of cooling.

Howard, I also reside in Australian (Melb) and had my 1977 260z 2+2 recently converted from R12 to R134a and it works great.

I was quoted about $220 for the retro-fit including the re-gasing (but I also needed a new condenser). Well worth it since its now about half the cost to re-charge the gas.

Regards Colin.
