The car will start but then it just dies. If I step on the gas it hesitates severly and back fires. Once it stops it won't restart for awhile. Could my fuel pump or pumps be going bad? Do both the electric and mechnical pump have to work for the car to run? The electric pump is sort of loud. Thanks

Hey when was the last time it was running, because mine was sitting for 10 years, i had to change the oil and i had to drain fuel tank, then i put new fuel in and sat witht he car for an hour tring to get all the water and air out of my fuel lines and then it started running better also try running car on choke, thats what i had to do, to let it warm up and i can take choke off and it runs okay, because i also have a few problems with my 260z 2+2.
