Does anyone know the gauge characteristics for various 240Z gauges (ie how much current, or what sensor resistance coresponds to what reading on the gauge) for oil pressure, temp and fuel gauges?

Also, what kind of input signal is necessary to drive the tach?

All advice appreciated,

Thanks,

Pat

Re: 240Z Instruments (Kinda long)

Not sure about the first ?, but the tach on a 240, as opposed to later Z's is pretty screwy. It uses one input from the - coil(the black/white one), and one from the ignition (green/white) on the ballast resistor. these two wires connect on back of the tach to each end of a wire shaped like this:

_____/_____

It makes a loop. This is why the Crane HI-6 wont work with the tach, and I assume no other aftermarket ignitions? Not sure how it works, but I would guess it compares voltages or something.

Also about the dash lights, they are all the same. I don't know the number, as I got all mine from a junkyard. Just finishing up complete rewire of mine. I traced each and every wire and labelled everything. About 2 weeks work, but should pay off in long run. I know my electric system now!
