Hi all,
I'm new to this board and I'm new to Z cars. I just bought 2 cars: a 1973 with a good body and lo miles and a $350 1970 parts car. The 73 is a california model with an automatic transmission and 50,000 miles. the 70 is a manual with what looks like weber DGVs and certified 68,000 miles(but has completely rotted frame rails). My question: If I were to swap the entire drivetrain, engine to diff, what else would I need from the parts car to adapt my 73 to the manual transmission?

Andrew, to ans. your ? you have all the components that you deed withe the two cars. I have a 73 with a auto tranny . I could be interested in one of the engines if he prece is right . Let me know what you have and what you have in mind. We can get 280 engines here from 81--83s for $400. Gary Portland Ore.

The location of the shifter in different in 70 and 73. Most other parts will work. I have an extra 72+ (same as 73) 4 speed if it would help you. Most people perfer to go to the 5 speed. That will cause your drive line length to change. Good luck. DPappe Seattle
