Yes you can do it. You can do anything with these first-gen machines. Especially if you already have the 240 stuff and it works. But it will take a lot of hard work....
There's more to it than just swapping transmissions, The 240 Z standard and the 260Z auto may not have the same flywheel specs. You'll need to check that.
Also, you're gonna have to install a clutch pedal and do a lot of other stuff related to the swap. It's a heck of a lot easier to go from a standard to an auto than the other way around.
You can do it, but you'll have your work cut out for you.
