The other day I was driving to school in my 83 280zxt and it has never really given me any problems. But it was a cold morning and i was accelerating normal up to 3k rpms and all of a sudden the engine kinda bogged down and the rpms just fell to idle, I pressed on the gas but nothing happened...there was no response at all....so i pull over and put it in park..pressed on the gas and it acted just fine. Anyone take any guesses at what happened? Fuel pump? engine still cold, not warmed up? TPS? ...i dunno but my 2nd Q is simple. What oil should I run in my 83 280zxt? It's cold here in Oklahoma so I dunno if that means I should run something different, currently I'm running Penzoil 10w30.....Thanks for all the help, Blake

first, let the engine warm up for at least 5-7 minutes before you put it in gear, and then drive slow until the engine has reached operating temp. This is crucial for engine life. You get the oil hot which is better for reving the engine. Cold oil is bad!!! It doesnt circulate as well. The thinner the oil, the better for cold weather. Always let the engine warm up!

oil

Penzoil 10w30 should be fine in my opinion. Change it and your filter every 3 thousand miles.

Some people might recommend other weights or brands, but you should be okay using what you are using.

Like the others said, let the engine warm up. And check your fuel filter. If it hasn't been changed in 10 or 15 thousand miles, change it anyway. You'll eliminate it as a factor in your problem.....
