1. Can someone with a good running 77-78 measure the resistance on pins 7-8 of the AFM and tell me the result with the flap completely closed? You can do it from the ECU inside the car, so it should be quick and easy. With my contact points just at the edge of the resistor, its about .200 K ohms. If the contacts go off the resistance, then the points are on a non-conductive part of the card and there is a an open...infinite resistance. I have a feeling they should stop on the resistance, hence the FSM indicating there should be a slight resistance.

2. Where is a good place to set the idle bypass screw on the AFM for inital adjustment? What is the other screw across from the idle bypass screw that is identical to it? Are there two bypass screws? Both of mine were cranked all the way closed....tight. I backed them off both about half way, but haven't put it back on the car yet.

I also found one of the two copper sliding contacts not even contacting the variable resistance. Adjusted that and lightly cleaned all the contact points...hopefully this will help my dilemma.

Thanks for the input.

Kevin

I have an official shop manual from a '78 Z, if there's anything I can copy and send to you let me know, this is NOT a chilton or a haynes, it's from Nissan and very in-depth. My AFM is out of my old Z that was totaled so I can't test it for you, sorry.
