1984 300zx turbo 50 anniversary ; car ran fine, sometimes but not always the emergency relief valve would pop sounding like a backfire, the car would die. Then about 15 minutes it would start and run fine until next pop, which not always happened. The last time it popped i drove it home shut it off, it has not started since. The engine turns normal when switched to engage starter, but just turns, doesent fire off or even try to fire.. Somebody please help, its been at a nissan dealer in south georgia for 3 week now, they havent even got it in the shop yet. """""
My I-NET ADDRESS IS: [email protected]
I have 2 FSM's a haynes and a chilton. I will run the ECCS for trouble codes. Could it be the AFSunit? i have recently installed a K&M air filter. I would appreciate any input..

Unless you have the car available to you there isnt much advice that can be done with your description. Advice requires you to perform some diagnostics yourself and relay the info. Since the dealer hasnt touched it they probably dont have anyone that knows anything about the Z31 and may just throw a bunch of parts at it and hand you a big bill. Perhaps you should ask them why its been 3 weeks.
You might have blown off some vacuum hoses when you overboosted. Happens on my friends. look for something loose or disconnected. Also do the basic diagnosis. check for spark, fuel pressure. May have nothing to do with the relief valve - just something that went wrong coincidentally. If dealer can't fix it in three weeks it is because they don't have any old timers around that know squat about the z31. Most "mechanics" these days are computer techs and parts replacers. If it doesn't show up on their test they are lost because they have no real idea what makes an engine run. Check around see if there is a z car club near you most members willing to help. I know I have seen posts from around atlanta.
the dealer never looked at it, after 3 weeks they are telling me now to come pick it up, that they wont work on it.
That is probably for the best. Do what RogerZ said and contact some local Z car people. If you are wanting to pay to have it fixed, then they can probably tell you who is a competent Z repair shop in your area.
turned out replacing the ingition coil and power transistor solved the problem. I need an exhust recommendation, the catalyst is toast , thought about doing away with and just running through a flowmaster. Any professional suggestions ?
come to find out that the ing coil and power transistor was not the cause it happened again, i had a 2000 watt stero system installed, i disconnected it and so far so good..
