I've got a new problem. This beauty starts up first thing but after it has run and you shut it off, the next time you go to start the car it will fire right up and then it dies. Eventually it starts again every time but it takes a while. And as your trying to get it started it smells rich with raw gas.

Any ideas? Someone else suggested the cold-start valve was faulty.

Buck,
Interesting problem. Your cold start injector could be the problem. What kind of gas mileage are you getting? If the cold start injector is not shutting down then you should be getting sucky mileage - like less than 15 mpg. The cold start injector is activated by the Thermotine Switch - the larger of the two-wire sensors on the front of your thermostat housing. For starters I'd suggest taking the electrical connector loose from it and the Engine Temperature Sensor ( the smaller of the two-wire sensors) and cleaning the contacts really well (contact cleaner & small file) and coating them with some di-electric grease (Radio Shack) and re-assembling. If you follow their wires you'll see some lumps in the wiring about 16 from the sensors. These are bullet connectors where the sensors hook into the main harness. Take these apart and clean them too. If the problem still persists after this - e-mail me directly and I can give you some more areas to pursue.
