You can get a fake knock off.

where would i look for that, i have never seen them?
I got some round chrome ones that have an eagle with a sheild on them. They look antique.
Hey, Whered you get the wheels from? i have a set of mags off of a vega but they wont fit over the brake rotor. Thanks!
Those 5 slot mags were installed by the datsun dealerships, optional dealer add on. 14 x 6. You could also get hubcaps and steel wheels.
alright, thanks. i knew they came factory but wonderd if there was a place i could purchace a set. i cant find any that are in my price range though.
Your slot mags look like those made by Appliance in the 70's.

Most were 14" rim size x 7.0" wide.

These mags came with push-on caps which were removed by tapping from the rear.

Most of the original caps were victims of rust and evaporated from the market.

Eagle Wheels does make a metal push-on cap that fits the bore of the Appliance Mags.

I bought four at $12.50 each for my Appliance wheels about 7 years ago.

Your wheels are somewhat damaged due to the 4 holes installed for attachment screws.

can u post a pic please so i can see what they look like, thanks
Actually, Datsun 280ZX, the aluminum alloy slotted dish wheels never did come FACTORY. They
were either a) a post-purchase option, or b) a dealer-installed option. They were VERY common
back in the day due to the rarity of the Z as compared to the demand. Dealers FREQUENTLY
installed "mags" on a take-it-or-leave-it basis so as to inflate the profit margin: "If you don't
want the car the way we equipped it, there are PLENTY of others on the WAITING LIST who do!"

Heroe (up above) was correct in all details. 14x6" was the most common size since it was an
upgrade over the 14x4.5" (and later 14x5") steel rims. It also caused a problem: most people
didn't want their steel rims and wheel covers, so great quantities accumulated in the basements
of partZ departmentZ, tying up storage space with dead inventory. Solution to problem: put them
in the dumpster or sell them to the scrap yard. ASK ME HOW I KNOW. If only I had been able to
see 30 or 40 years into the future, I would have bought every one I could find. Actually I would
probably have been paid to haul them away by my GM and the GM's of my contemporaries!

BTW Brad, keep what you have and save your money. The type of rims you have, with the screw-
on caps, were one of the two styles back in the day, hence very period-correct. I would respect-
fully disagree with Zblu71 regarding their being "somewhat damaged." That was actually the
way many of them originally came. While I personally never had any of the press-in on our '70
to pop off and get lost, I really think the screw-on type is the more secure of the two styles.

All Z Best,...................Rick (and Kathy, of course)

Because they were added at some dealership DOES NOT mean they were 'factory'---in fact they ARE NOT 'factory'---they are just an aftermarket wheel some dealer added. Factory Alloys in that era DID NOT look ANYTHING like a five-slot mag!
I'll also add that the 'four holes' are not a modification, they are a different rim that TAKES a bolted-on center cap! I believe Shelby was like this.

And again, FACTORY ALLOYS for anything before the 'four pointed star' seen on the 260Z's (outside the USA) were NOT dish mags. They are AFTERMARKET AND NOT FACTORY PARTS!

If they are, show me the part number.

This is a very common thing in America: a distribution agent marketing parts falsely attributed to the FACTORY. Their technicians calling them "Datsun Factory Mechanics" etc... It's not only for cars, a lot of sales organizations do it for myriad products. The problems caused for the OEM/FACTORY because of this is unimaginable! If you never worked for an OEM/FACTORY you can never know the extent of the problem! What can you say? They're SALES outlets. Salesmen lie. Remember Joe Isuzu? It's not too far off the mark!

I was not aware that Appliance made the two configurations: push-on and screw-on center caps.

Push-on caps had big "A" on them.

Agree that screw-on caps have much improved retention.

Sorry for identifying tapped screw holes as damaged goods. It would only be true if yuou installed the push-on caps.

My wheels were purchased in Orlando, Fl in 1971 for $150 and they are not factory otpions

Shelby and or Western Wheel may take the four-screw type. I do not recall Enkei using screw-retained center caps, but I do know only Enkei caps fit Enkei wheels, they have a metric center hole and are different than any of the American Produced stuff. Shallower dish, and much nicer machined surfaces.

I was just wondering, because your an "Emperor" and all, and since your so fast to tell someone they are wrong in such a blunt manner, how you came to gain the knowledge noone here seems to equal?
Its an honest question, I just want to know where or how you learned it all?
So what? i said it wrong and i may not know equal to what you do. No need to be a jerk.
