1992 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo with less than 91K miles. I am the second owner and purchased 3 years ago from a gentleman in La Jolla. I would keep the car but it is time for someone else to enjoy the vehicle. I bought it bone stock and did the following upgrades. The car right now is boosted to...

Also consider replacing all of the wiring harness (get painless or some other alternative, 12 fuse one will suffice)

in California 91 octane is the highest street gas you can get (unless you are willing to pay 5$ a gallon for av gas or race fuel, which is not conductive for the daily driver) Again as I said 11.6:1 CR on stock cams has way too much compression, more progressive cams reduce the dynamic pressure...

Gents so here is the progress after 31K miles on a junk yard build with 11.6 CR motor. As some of you remember that I have built a franken motor with the following components Maxima head 240Z rods 280Z dished pistons that got milled 2.6mm Fel-Pro headgasket When I finished breaking in the...
  8. O2 sensors

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
You are right about shelling out money on the TTZ, just burnt though 6K for the engine rebuild. What about using 3 wire from a corvette and splicing the connectors. The universals costs 59 a pop, corvette exact fit is 45. The universal goes for both corvette and the Z, so I would guess they...
  9. O2 sensors

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
Gents I am a cheap SOB and I need to change O2 sensors on my TT so those are 3-wire sensors, but those can be expensive, Has anybody tried to wire 4-wire sensors as 3 wires (combining the grounds) which are $25 for universals vs. $60 for true replacements
  10. Crank Shaft

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
This is what I thought. Then this should not be a big deal since it is just where the timing sprocket is attached about 1/4 inch from the front of the front oil seal. I have rebuilt the L series engines but the VG scare me a bit. This is why I am being careful
  11. Crank Shaft

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
Hey I was dissembling the VG30DETT motor on my "new" 92 300zx and while removing the front sprocket (timing sprocket) I have nicked the crank with a chisel. The timing sprocket would not want to separate so I had to use screwdrivers, chisels, and pry bars to get it off. So the question is how...
  12. Strut Question

    70-83 Tech Discussion Forum
It had been a while since I have been here. So here we go. I have a 260Z 2+2 on which I have done a complete suspension job (Eibachs with Illuminas) few years back. However, the potholes have blown out one of my struts in the rear. (I will need to disassemble before finalizing the diagnosis)...

I actually wrote out the equations that govern fuel consumption, and I did get some results that are belivable -- there are many things that are unknown that would require whole bunch of testing to find the proper coefficients So lets start with nomenclature Fuel Flow -- FF Specific Fuel...

also check for Kammy's valve adjustment routine (do a search that includes all the years). He has left the forum good 4 years ago, but he knew what he was doing PS no need to remove the intake-- just the valve cover and then 14 and 17 mm wrenches and a 17 mm crow foot on a torque wrench.

hey guys I am helping my buddy with his 75 280z (decent car) his alternator fried so I told him might as well change it to the zx one -- So I used the wiring scheme presented in the atlanticz and zcarcreations but the new/refurbed alternator does not work -- I checked for continuity for the...

The guy that I bought the chip from said that the chip is JWT, CA edition (as the sticker have said), but the box is federal and that was the cause of it blowing the engine code 51. So I ended up asking my uncle (who is an EE and who was literaly born with a soldering iron) to remove the old...

Sorry to the TT guys, this is my first EFI car -- these things drive me crazy. So here is the scoop I got the ecu with JWT chip that unlocks the engine power, raises boost, removes speed governor, etc. the one for $600-700 retail. I got it from a guy on craigslist. He explains what need to...
