  1. Strut/spring issue

    70-83 Tech Discussion Forum
a little discussed fact is all modern shocks (to my knowledge) are gas loaded, and they give more than a little lift when used with stock springs, especially old ones. the original shocks were assembled right in the tube that we now use to hold the shock cartridge- they had no gas loading and...
  2. is the messaging feature working?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
Hey all, first time back in a while, and wondering if the private message feature is working? I'm trying to get in touch with a member regarding an old post, and sent a PM, but nothing shows up in my sent folder, odd. if 4-EZT reads this, I was wondering how your door pillar trim repair went...
  3. Centric Rebuild kits OK?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
Probably old news to most here, but I was planning on digging into my Z this winter, and started looking around for rear caliper rebuild kits, and found Nissan no longer makes them. Only one I found was an aftermarket kit at CZP, by Centric- any one had any experience with this kit? I've...

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
Thanks for the offer, but I have a set of oem nismo bushings on the way from CZP. Eric
  5. Intermittent rough running problem

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
no specific advice, but there is a great write up on hesitation in FAQ sticky at the beginning of this forum, from Zhome.com, if you haven't already seen it. Is it just my imagination, or is this forum REALLY quiet? I seem to remember a much livelier community a few years back
  6. 1 shock blew, replace them all?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
I guess I don't' know they are original, but they do appear to be stock. I also have a tension rod bushing that is leaking, so time for those too. While I'm in there, I think Ill check out the rest of the bushings- any others that I should pay particular attention to? I'm not planning on...
  7. 1 shock blew, replace them all?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
Hey all, I just noticed I haven't been on the forum in a LONGGGG time, glad to see everything is still humming along. Car is a 1990, NA, 2 seater, 105,000 mi. Last summer I had one of my rear shocks blow out, and replaced it with an OEM. The remaining ones look stock and original, and I'm...
  8. 72 240z carb flooding

    70-83 Tech Discussion Forum
one other quirk is some of the SU's have different needle valves for the front and back carbs- weird but true. Many kits, even my first one from Ztherapy did not get this one right. The tell tale sign is different length of posts that hold the float pivot.
  9. 72 240z carb flooding

    70-83 Tech Discussion Forum
Welcome to the forums. You don't say much about where you got your kit, or where its leaking from. The only reliable place to get the correct parts for the SU carb (I assume that is what you have) is from a company called ZTherapy.com. There is really only one gasket in an SU, the main float...
  10. sticky tires

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
Hankook Ventus V-12, great tire for a low price, don't know how they will hold up, but love'm, Z speed rating, fairly quiet
  11. 2 post lift for home use- recommendations?

    Car Talk Forum
$3250, shipped, including a 3000# jack tray and casters, from best buy automotive, who I highly recommend. I got quotes from 3 places and they were all within $50, for the same package, so don't hold your breath for cheaper price. Also, they say they will add $40 for dock pickup, but they waived...
  12. how much should I offer for this 1990 turbo?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
He reposted with an asking price of $7,700- must have been getting too many low ball offers with that original "best offer" ad. too rich for my blood...... E
  13. how much should I offer for this 1990 turbo?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
I hear you, little things can add up. I also wonder if its been repainted, and if its stock or not. I may just give him a call and have a look.
  14. how much should I offer for this 1990 turbo?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
hey all, I have been considering a turbo for a winter project. looking for a solid platform, good paint, but maybe higher miles expecting to do the usual 100K type work- timing belts, injectors, rebuild turbo, ect. I found this add in CR today, and the car appeals to me for several reasons...
  15. 2 post lift for home use- recommendations?

    Car Talk Forum
OK, based on all the excellent feed back, I bought a 4 post BendPak HD-9. Let me me just say this thing is awesome! Incredibly well built, easy to put together (not easy to unload), and I expect the finish to hold up very well based on the couple weeks I've had it. The 240Z goes right up with no...
  16. 2 post lift for home use- recommendations?

    Car Talk Forum
thanks Tony and XZtoy, and all, I have changed my mind and will be getting a 4 post. I do a lot of tire, brake and suspension work, but when I really looked into it, it sounds like the jack tray option should work just fine for that. I also didn't realize you could move them, very cool option...
  17. 2 post lift for home use- recommendations?

    Car Talk Forum
Hey gang, looking at getting a lift in my home garage and need some advice. Long story short, I'm getting tired of screwing around with jacks and stands, blocks, laying on my back, you know what I'm saying. Not to mention that are a few jobs you simply need a lift to do safely. I've started...
  18. Energy suspension mega pack? anyone?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
I wouldn't. I put a set in my '73 240Z, and regret it. The ride is very harsh and noisy. The kicker was even at 40 years old, most of the stock bushings were fine, so don't just do it because of age. The handling is probably tighter, but at a steep cost. just my 2 cents. Eric
  19. What do you think?

    90-96 Tech Discussion Forum
it is the number 6 cylinder, it is cursed. That was the one on mine that went too. It also still had the stock spark plug after all these years, worn to nubbin. If you have an NA and the old style injectors, I have 3 OEM left from my conversion that still ohm out fine, trying to sell them for...
