into a hunting trip start with running the codes first and see what if anything pops up. What you describe can be a whole host of possibilities from bad plugs, coil pack, injectors, on and on and on....

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I am willing to bet the farm your water pump is on life support and will not last much longer.

The water pump has a "weep" hole just under the pulley shaft...

Mr. Woody (Denver) is correct. Check the heat shields that fit up in the drive shaft tunnel. If they are missing that is the problem.
