370Z Roadster and 370Z Nismo

Just talked to a friend of mine that works for Nissan in Nashville. They had the 2010 Roadster (1 of 2 in the world) and 370Z Nismo on display for the employees. He said they were unbelievable. No specs were given on the Nismo but the Nissan Rep. running the show said that the Nismo would have between 360hp and 435hp. Sounds like direct fuel injection and/or FI is on the way. Scheduled to be available August 2010. Both cars are set to be unveiled at the New York Auto Show soon. Should be interesting.

Re: 370Z Roadster and 370Z Nismo

my thoughts exactly. I'm waiting for my 370z to arrive but I guess there will always be something out there like that for you to wish for. I'll be perfectly happy with my car when it gets here.

I hear from a guy who knows a guy....
I would believe those number when the car is out. 360hp is doable though but I certainly dont see 435hp happening.

Re: 370Z Roadster and 370Z Nismo

My bud heard it straight from the Nissan reps mouth. I agree with the 360hp numbers. Doable with direct fuel injection, but the only way to get the 435hp with be FI and I don't know how reasonable of an expectation that is.

You could get 360 out of these engines even without direct injection. The Renault Megane trophy is running a VQ 3.5 that makes 360hp(this is a race spec car though), the Nismo Type 380RS made 350hp(385 in race spec) with a VQ38HR so I think 360 out of a 3.7 is certainly very real.

Re: 370Z Roadster and 370Z Nismo

Given the stated crank HP is 338, I would say 360 is totally doable since it's ONLY 22 hp more than the current rating. I believe with some bolt-on intake and exhaust modifications, you should be able to get "close" to those numbers before you have to think about forced induction.

I'll let you know how the intake and exhaust modifications affect the car's power delivery...

Re: 370Z Roadster and 370Z Nismo

The 2.4 liter V-8s that the Formula 1 cars are running make ~900hp.

*Almost* Anything's possible.

That is a pretty wide range - but good to hear that they are already working on it. I may be timing my purchase perfectly (looking for one in 2010-2011).

Previously owned: 2005 Z Enthusiast, Super Black, 6 spd.
Currently Own: 2009 VW GLI, Alpine White, 6 Spd Manual
