Re: 2007 Touring
I bought a Touring 6 spd in June for $200 over invoice. I don't have the exact price here at work. The out the door price was $2900 less than the pre-order '03 Touring 6 spd I got in Aug '02. That's the difference between buying the Z as soon as it comes out at $500 over MSRP and buying now at $200 over invoice. I think now you should get it for no more than invoice + tax and license.
Two weeks ago we bought a '07 Murano SL AWD and got it for $1300 under invoice + tax and license probably cuz it is end of the year. Also I negotiated over the internet and started by quoting the salesman invoice and asked how much below that he could go. When we got to the dealer the car we wanted wasn't as he told us but fortunately there was another there we did want. When we sat down with him on that car which was a different price we had to negotiate again.
Again I started at invoice. When he wouldn't go low enough I pulled out a printout from another nearby dealer with their quote and strted looking at it. Their name was in big print at the top of it so he saw it. MSRP for that one was actually a little less than the one we were looking at, but he was quoting us a price below invoice. We made it clear after we left their place if we didn't buy their car we were heading there. He asked to look at that quote and said if he matched it would we buy his? We said sure the the rest is history. So bottom line is I think you can do better and start negotiating at invoice. The price he's quoting looks like its still significantly above invoice.
Also there were a couple Z's they had there and they were marked down $6000 and $8000 off MSRP. Check Edmonds for invoice prices. You can also ask the dealer to see it. They showed us the Murano one. Hope this helps you.
