replacing brake lines

Will replacing the brake lines using the method described by JT240z in the faq require more than one liter of brake fluid? He mentions briefly that it requires slightly more fluid but doesnt say how much more. Anyone know?

Re: replacing brake lines

1 liter should be enough. Some people go above and beyond and push as much fluid through as possible. I've done it several times and a 1 liter works fine. The main thing you want to do is get rid of the nasty dark fluid nearest the calipers.

The easiest way to do it, in my opinion, is to get ATE blue fluid assuming you have the std brown colored fluid and push fluid until it turns blue at the calipers. I think it took me about 3/4 of a liter in my 94 since there are no bleeders at the ABS unit.

Re: replacing brake lines

Where did you come across the FAQ on bleeding techniques ?

I'll be doing the same brakeline replacement soon, but back when I did a simple flush, I can't claim that I was able to get all the air out. bleeders at the ABS unit ??

Gosh, my manual seems to indicate that there are.

But yeah, I'm not interested in messing with them if it's not neccesary.
