Parts swap compatability (85)&(88)

Can anyone tell me what parts are compatible between an 85 z31 and an 88 z31? Or more simply part what parts are not?

There are a lot of parts on a car. Perhaps you could narrow down what parts you are looking at.

Generally, the 84 and 85 are mostly the same, and the 87 and 88 are mostly the same. The 86 is something of a transition year.

Moving parts from a 87 to a 84, as an example, will frequently be compatible. However, they will often be somewhat different.

remember, the 85 cars were the Zenki models. the 88 cars were the kouki. some slight interior changes, but the biggest differences on these are the exterior cosmetic changes.
engines and things under the hood for the most part are the same. the tranny's are different. ECU's and O2 sensors are different, depending on NA or T. smaller turbo on the 88s and 89s.
One of the most important changes on the 88 cars is the fuel injectors: they changed the impidence used, so if you swap, make sure you know which ones they are otherwise you can risk frying your ECU and/or your injectors.

this website will give you some very good info:

and this one is probably your best friend for used Z31 parts. you can see which ones are compatible:
