Exhaust system for 84 Z31 NA

Hey everyone I'm new to the website so I'm still getting use to finding myself around. I was just wondering if anyone knows what would be a good exhaust system for my NA 84? I searched online, but I didn't if it was for mine exactly or a z32.
Thanks!

here you go. what's the reason for the new exhaust? unless yours is shot or rotted out, there really is no reason to get another one unless you're doing some serious upgrades for power.. i.e. turbo or NA engine upgrades.

im getting the 2.5" system for my 87 NA2T build.

THANKS A LOT!
Yeah, I'm planning on upgrading the entire car. I just know I need a new one because the previous owner didn't really care for it. I just ordered the MSA exhaust.

Hey Mr. White,

which system did you use on your 87? 2.5 or 3, turbo or non-turbo?
I am building a stock turbo setup for my 87 n/a and was considering the 2.5" turbo back system. I would go 3" but I am putting stock components for the turbo and I don't think the bigger 3 will fit in the car's stock exhaust heat shields.

how loud is yours exactly? just hoping to get some input before I make the money plunge and buy the system.

cheers,

Bon

Hey - went with the 2.5" non-turbo dual-tip.

I also have a test pipe on it (removed the cat). Everything else is stock.

It is absurdly loud. I mean manage-able for sure, I like to hear the car. But it is not quiet. You can still do things like talk on the phone though while driving.

The car sounds amazing though, even for a little 6 cylinder

cool. how do you get away with the state inspections?... lol.
do you know if having the test pipe vs. the cat makes it louder? I was thinking of using the test pipe also, and doing away with the cat since they are not required in the country I am in. but now in its n/a form the exhaust is already very loud, but I think the turbo will quiet that up a bit. do you happen to have a video of your car? I wouldn't mind hearing the sound. thanks!

no state inspections in Florida

I definitely think the test pipe made it louder than it would be with the cat.

I will try and make a vid and upload it here.

Back in 2002, I went with 3" Turbo back exhaust system including a Magnaflow high flow cat and dual tip muffler. I picked out the parts and had a custom exhaust shop weld it all together. Magnaflow has a smooth, aggressive rumble and their straight-through design provides unimpeded exhaust flow. Great for turbo cars and not obnoxiously loud.
