The Definitive Guide To z31 Louvers

The Definitive Guide To z31 Louvers

After buying two pairs by mistake, and crappy plastic side louvers – thought I’d save anyone the hassle I went through, and so really – I put this together for others who find themselves in the same spot - searching for a pair of these and not knowing whats what. I saw so many posts on various forums about the differences, so I decided to figure it all out as best as I could. I think I have it all correct, if not - my apologies and feel free to add any corrections where I might be misinformed.

Good info. I have the later ABS ones because it's all I could find without dumping $400+ It's not the worst thing but it doesn't look as good as the aluminum ones.

That said, if a good aluminum one comes my way....

Sure thing xenon.. Ide be honored.. You're site has helped me out so much. One thing ask is you add in the corrections: which I am also including here as I can't seem to edit the post:

1. Abs plastic louvers are available at Sfxperformance.. I mislabeled their avaibility section... I doubt anyone would take the time to sell them used.. Although who knows ( no disrespect to you desertrat)
2. Forgot to add 300zx to both titles of headlight louvers
3. The interpret and msa louvers.. As well as msa side aluminum louvers ..may aso double as 280zx louvers.. I think some of them may fit and there may be people swapping them. ( I think each of those 3 section should say that.. And in time I may do some more research to see.)
4. There may also be a way to use Chastain Louvers from a Celica MK2/Supra and its possible some people out there are doing this already. (for Chastain section)
5. the ABS plastic side louvers may have 7, or 9 slats - depending on version.

Thx.
Tsf

Andy's AutoSport is where I got my plastic one. Seems to be as good or better on price as anyone else out there.

Ooo I just picked up some lovers $40 from the scrap yard that are, structurally, in great condition. I just need to finish sanding them off so I can paint them.

nice job stadickshocks..

also Wanted to add... the MSA ones I have listed were apparently made by Chastain. Same with the side aluminum ones. They are the later model ones with keys and lacthes, the earlier 'shadow' louvers do not have locks/keys.

hope that helps

I have MSA abs side louvers for my 2+2 Z31. Though they stick out a bit, they really make the car look great and retro, especially with them sanded, smoothed, and painted to match the car color - champagne pearl metallic

wish I could find a low profile rear hatch louver (without the wiper, did they even make those?) and get it painted to match.

Z's look great with louvers in my opinion.

great post btw
