what's up dude. do you currently have a 300zx to put this louver on???
1. i can't tell by the photos, but it looks like it has been around awhile, just kept in a box and never opened. they are becoming a bit rare now days especially for the 300zx, however every once in awhile they will show up on ebay. wilpak industries still makes aftermarket ones. they stopped making stock ones years ago i believe. these are hard to find, so if you got a car to put it on, do it because they look good and help save your rear interior from the sun and keep it a bit cooler inside during the summer months.
2. louvers were very popular at a time during the seventies and eighties, especially on the big muscle cars. it seems that now they are making a comeback... i see new mustangs all the time with low profile side louvers that look great. they were popular on Z's too.
3. the instructions say it fits a 300zx coupe. that means only the 2 seater model, not the 2+2. believe it or not, but the hatch glass are different sizes. the one on the four seater is smaller. now, the sizes on the coupes should all be the same size and fit, that is 1984 - 1989 300zx Z31 not the Z32. keep in mind there were some minor cosmetic changes from '87 up, but i don't think the hatch changed. turbo cars had a spoiler on the hatch with a 3rd brake light attached to it, and in 86 non turbo cars also started coming with the spoiler. you only have to worry if you have an '87 and up because they removed the third brake light from the spoiler and put it up above the hatch glass, thus making a fit problem for a louver that was meant for the 85 - 86.
so, this louver that you have will fit a coupe model, most likely for the early years. this particular louver is for cars with the rear window wiper, hence it's tall configuration. i have seen several of these types around, can tell by the little square holes on the sides. other types were "without wiper" and were more low-profile. i think they look better personally.
4. you can find them for about 100 bucks, but most of them are used and some not it great condition. new ones from MotorsportAuto are around the 200+ range. also, there are different ones... some are metal aluminum and some are ABS plastic, so prices will differ there as well. go to WILPAK industries and look at what they have and give them a call and get a price.
hope this helps.
