On my old 240Z, 16V boiled the battery.

No offense needed. I don't enjoy being told I'm wrong, but I really don't like telling people wrong information. I'm not one to claim infinite wisdom because I can write things on the internet. I was surprised it came through all spelled out as well.

It's crazy that two volts between a normal and an overcharged system can boil over the battery. So I'm glad that was corrected.

Ok that is what I thought so the new alternator I just put in is bad ? I figured as much when my car amp shuts off when I start the car and it's getting 16.4 at the amp and 16.7 at the posts. Thanks guys more work this weekend for me yay

"New" parts for our older cars are usually reman's unless you pay the extra for a truly new part, so bad out of the box happens sometimes. I've never had an alternator bad out of the box, but I have had starter's where that was the case.

What's next ... Now my headlight don't work ... They come up and down tail lights come on marker lights work but no beams at all fuses are good ?
