Re: 1984 nissan 300zx lazy

I have a 3 year old son so, let me try and translate this.......
I believe that he wants to know if he can take the lifters from another Z at the junkyard and swap them with his or does he need to swap the entire head. From what I can translate, looks like he said engine had been modified before and has intercoolers......

Re: 1984 nissan 300zx lazy

why not just find a good head and swap the whole thing?

Speed isn't dangerous. It's that sudden stop that'll kill you.

Re: 1984 nissan 300zx lazy

yes, you can take the lifters out of a junkyard car and put them in yours. BUT do NOT do that. the lifters have been worn along with the cam that they have been with for the last 15 or so years. You WILL end with more problems if you do this. it is NOT recommeded that you swap used lifters between cars. Either buy new lifters, or buy an entire head with matching lifters/cam.

If your lifters are gunked up, get a bottle of marvel mystery oil and put it in with your oil. There are instructions on the marvel bottle. This will help ungunk clogged lifters.

Spot is right on the money. You can't even swap your existing lifters, side to side if doing an overhaul.......much less getting used ones from a different car.
