series 1 brake master cylinder

Hello all,

I've got a series 1 240, i'm trying to keep it stock as much as possible. My master cylinder was leaking, and you can't get replacements. I did manage to get a rebuild kit. Pulled it out, disassembled it - BUT, i can't get the front cylinder out of the bore. All retaining bolts are removed as well as the brake line caps.... its definitely hitting a hard stop in there somewhere, but there's nothing left to take off! it is stopping at the rear brake line area. Anybody experienced this??

Thanks,
Ken

Did you take out the small "stop bolt" between the line connections?

That's a later MC, but the series one stop bolt is on the side, and its has been removed.

Thanks,
Ken

Try blowing compressed air in the front port opening CAREFULLY!
Wrap the big end of the cylinder with a towel or something. Parts will come out like a rocket.

Can't remember, but were these iron MCs? If so, could be rust on cylinder or piston or both, if moisture got in there.

Tried compressed air, no joy. only thought now is the base of the front cylinder is gooped onto the end of the bore. letting it set overnight with some liquid wrench. otherwise, no **** idea why that cylinder won't come out....

thanks,
Ken

As stated above there is a stop bolt that has to be removed to let the front section come out.
Make sure no residues from that bolt remain, or it will stick like a beyatch.
