Update on speaker covers

Hi folks,

I got a great idea from another guy on a different 350Z forum, so thanks to him. I was drilling out all those holes on the wierd speaker covers in the 2007 Z. Remember this pic? I was going nuts trying to drill them all out!!!!

So, following his lead, I cut out the speaker center all together leaving only the outside frame.

Then I went to the local speaker repair shop and purchased some speaker cover material.

I glued it on to the back of the speaker frame then trimmed it.

The finished product. By the way, the stereo still sucks but it does sound better if you just remove the speaker covers. You can always fix them later. This was too easy.

It was one of the easiest things I have ever done to a car. This was just too easy to not do.

I finally pulled off my speaker covers on my 03 doors. I really did like the speaker cloth mod shown above but since I had nothing better to do on the holiday, I drilled out "lots and lots" of holes instead. I believe the sound did improve a bit especially in the mid range but it is not the miracle that the bose system really needs. These crappy front speakers need to go soon. I will eventually be putting infinity cappas in. But first I need to get my rear brakes and spark plugs replaced.

Man these Z's always want you to spend money on them! (but I love every minute driving it though!)
