nismo s-tune suspension
Posted by: reno55

hello all, i'm thinking of switching out my s-tune suspension. i intially installed the set-up soon after my purchase in 03. at this point i'm trying to achieve a smoother ride. the stock suspension was quite stiff and the s-tune was definatley an improvement in ride and handling.
if you guys have a an upgrade recommendatoin from first hand application please do advise.
thanks

What components are changed when you installed the Nismo S-tune stuff? Is it just shocks and springs, or is it swaybars and other components as well?

Then keep what you got already, add in some stiffer swaybars, switch to poly bushings, and maybe add a front strut brace.

he said he wants a smoother ride, not his teeth to chatter out of his head.

yeah, I know thats what he said.. but he also said:

"if you guys have a an upgrade recommendatoin"

I recommended an upgrade. You can't have everything... either you get stiffer and better handling, or you get softer and smoother but give up some cornering. Sacrificing handling definitely wouldn't be an "upgrade" in my book.

phxZ31 Do you know where can I find the poly bushings for the front stock sway bars? Correct size is??? I have been told they can help with the Zs handeling around corners.

I changed My stock 03 shocks out for tokico hp shocks. I kept the stock springs Not much different from stock. They are slightly softer then stock and help with the bouncy ride on LA freeways. Tokico also makes an adjustable shock for the Z. If you go with these< I would adjust to full soft and give that a try. I wanted a softer, quieter ride as well. My next tire change will be to Avon 500 summer tires. I hear they are quieter, reasonably priced, and have a good looking tread design. This Avon has a tread design where it looks like the redisigned Bridgestone tire that helped to eliminate the feathering roar (if that is a concern to You). The inner tread is not cut all the way to the next tread, so the tire can not step feather as easily. Maybe You could start another thread on the quietest tires?

thank you all for the input. Rampage, you hit the head on the nail which also tied into the tire aspect. i also live in LA and it would seem as if we are on the same roads and conditions.
Thanks

You said You had a improvement in ride with the S-suspension. If You go back to stock or buy tokikos, the ride will be pretty much the same as before You switched to the S-suspension. It might make the ride stiffer then it is now. I just dont want You to spend money and end up less happy then you are now.
