Re: Anyone install an SLR Motorsports Performane Chip?

I got a chip in Nov. After deciding it was not what they said it took four emails to get them to send me the return authorization. No phone calls were answered. After it was mailed back I never could get any contact with them. Three months later my package came back unopened. It said that it was a refused delivery. I sent it back and it has returned to me again and says that the P.O Box is closed. P.O. Box 1778. Visa is on the prowl for a dispute. I notified the Better Business Bureau of the area.
I know that I have lost this one.

hi guys....No I do not own a z car however I am researching this chip for a friend that bought one for his Chevy.....32.8 k ohms is what I am reading right now. I believe what this does is offset the intake air temp to fool the computer into thinking that it is getting cooler air. Which I think will then allow for a larger fuel charge to be injected. I don't know how comfortable I am with doing that.......with an increased fuel charge and no adjustments to ignition timing and the same amount of air you have always had.....you simply run rich. I don't know thats the best I could come up with.....I am recommending to my friend that he spend the bucks and go with hypertech.....50hp for 60 bucks.....yeah right, if it were that easy I would be racing at Talledega.....lol good luck to you all

Wow.....my buddy wanted to install it anyway. So we did and I do not know if it increased his hp any but it damn sure eliminated a throttle response issue that he had.....We are going to run it for a month and see what happens.....it took about 5 min for the computer to adjust to the new reading and then ran fine...

Do you have a photo you could post with it installed?
The directions that came with it were terrible!

I have (had) purchased the performance chip from SLR Motorsports. First, my gas mileage decreased by 4 MPG! I honestly could tell no difference in any horsepower gains. I used the 'lack of performance chip' for two tanks of gas hoping for some miracle to happen. I did remove it and my MPG's went back to their previous numbers. The real battle is trying to get my money back. I did contact them through email and they did respond eventually with a return authorization number and a PO Box address in Florida, that was 14 days ago. Since then they have not responded to any email nor have they refunded my money. I have started chargeback proceedings through my bank to get my money back. I would NOT recommend this company or installing any performance chip on your car. I believe they do not work and they are all about the hype.

yes!Matter of fact, 3 of us bought chips for 3 different vehicles. We found out later a secret about these chips from a performance center locally! This info could be useful in alot of deifferent chips offered by different 'companies'. When we put an OHM meter on the 3 chips, they all read the same. There is NO custom chip as advertised. So they say!. We are attempting to get our money back, and now they have prolonged replies and answering e-mails within the 60 day money back gurantee, now telling us we are outside of the 60 days. We have e-mails and mail proof we sent them back withing the time frame, so now we are about to contact the credit card company. Unfortunately, you need to invest in the systems (chips) that are in the $200-$300 range that really do work. What SLR and similar chips do I can tell you on a seperate e-mail, but its pretty weird how simple it is and what it does for those gains they brag about.
