Re: Anyone install an SLR Motorsports Performane Chip?
Posted by: dommer331

Put the Pop Charger on this past Friday Night.
I got to drive the Z Sat in 85 degrees and the stock set up seemed a little better
but the exhaust note is louder with the JWT. This morning it was 67 degrees and the car likes to take off probably due to the colder air coming in.
I kept the stock filter box and K&N filter insert just in case I wanted to switch back.
I guess with everything there are plus'and minus'

Has anyone switched back to the Factory setup after installing a JWT?
Thanks, Dom

JWT = jim wolf turbo?

I kept my stock airbox for awhile after changing to a K&N intake, but threw it away eventually.

Your car probably likes to take off because you press on the gas pedal.

Yea just trashed an old guy in a SVT Cobra. Stupid thought I was just playing around then I hit it in 4th and the guy started to look young again. I guess the Z put his ass back in time. Hey Justin Henry, got any Back to The Future Pix to post. That would be hilarious!JWT ROCKS!!!!

SLR chip revealed today. I just couldn't return it without seeing what was inside this "35whp" claim. That is the answer I got from a customer inquiry response. Also, I asked to see a picture of one on a Z. My answer was not at this time. More, and more circles around the truth..
Well here it is fellas....
It doesn't look like much inside of this "Black box"to get any HP!

Wow dude, that chip is even more worthless than I anticipated.

Dommer, can you get a picture that can capture any of the writing on the top of that chip? You will need to use the macro setting on your camera (the flower icon) so that it will focus. I want to pull up the white paper on that chip and see which pins they have actually connected those wires to. My instinct is telling me that more likely than not, both of those pins are grounds, and therefore nothing its as useless as a solid piece of wire.

I definitely will give it a new "shot" when I get a chance to.
This weekend is pretty busy.
Thanks phx31

SLR BS3.JPG

In the corner where this thing was glued covered some of the first letters
...ERPAC, maybe covina, definitely reads next to it"California"
There is nothing to this thing exept two soldered wires to a piece of plastic.
Not even a fake circuit board or something that would resemble a workable chip.

phxz31, I will mail it to you if you want to have an actual live sample...

The package was mailed from

PO Box 867
Tarpon Springs, FL 34688

I did this so other Z members don't get hustled in the future.

I didn't send it back yet. I sent SLR my pix. Asking them if THEY wanted it back.
It would be in their best interest to because all my guys at CarDomain would like to know!!!lol.

It appears to be a resistor chip, I've used some in designs where you need a multiple of separate identical resistors (these are just packaged as a dip instead of the more common sip). They probably do this so they can call it a 'chip' without being sued for fraud.

yeah you might be right.

If it were in fact an actual IC, usually it would be packaged in ceramic rather than PCB plastic.

Hey Dommer, not to be demanding or anything, but does the top side of the "chip" have any markings on it that your camera can pick up? So far I've turned up nothing with "ERPAC" or "California"

There is no writing or markings at all and totally generic.
Aaaargh said it all. It may be a chip but could be a potato chip!!!
Just a lame piece of plastic so they don't get sued.

The company that supplies SLR with the PCB plastic module resides in Covina, CA

Someone also responded to my email from SLR. Wanted to know if I was disappointed after installing "chip" on my car and if I wanted a return....
I really don't know what to do at this point since I ripped it apart.
Probably just take the hit...

@#$%&, I'd just put it back together. Its not like there was really anything to it anyway.. a little super glue and its back in the same shape that you received it in.

I agree with aarrgghh, its probably just a PCB packaged resistor chip..

I agree. It appears to be a simple passave component called a resistor pack. One lead is used for fixed output and the other is selected by desired total resistance. The pack can be of many different resistance values but it is devided internally by selecting the various pin positions. One Typical resistor pack can be 4.7K. This requires ten 470 ohm resistors added in series inside the pack allowing the user to select various resistance values that start with a minimum of 470 ohms (first selectable pin out) and each of the eight remaining sequentially increasing by 470 ohm increments. This type of part costs around 25 cents. Measure the resistance across the two wires and you will see the exact selected resistance if this a resistor pack. What a JOKE!!!!!

So having passive resistance and a fixed output you will probably lose horsepower if you would put one of these on your Z.lol.

Depends entirely on what you're splicing into.
