It is STUPIDEST LEGISLATION EVER created!!

If you car gets 18 mpg you can get up to a $4500 coupon however if it gets 19 mpg you get ZIP!!

What kind of stupids shte is that?? DEMOCRATIC SHITE thats what kind of stupid shite it is!!

I mean the whole program is a government boondoggle, but at the very least they could have built the program upon a graduated basis where you get $500 for trading a car that get 25 mpg and then $500 more for every other mpg. But to just say NO if you get 19 vs. 18 would only be concievable in the mind of a BRAINDEAD DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSMAN'S eyes!!

Can't wait til the Democrats "FIX" healthcare!! ugh

He wants to return cool cars to the streets like cars with T-Tops, COOOL. Where there any Zcars made that would even qualify for cash for clunkers?
I agree with the likes of Norm and TonyD with plans like this.

I also see people on this site who I can't believe they own Zcars, sound like they should own Prius's. They know who they are. They like plans like this and mandated higher fuel economy and higher fuel taxes, cap and trade and the whole global warming now changed to global climate change since global warning isn't happening as they said it would .

It's all about control of the individual(Take freedom away act of 1984, I mean 2009). I bet the fur will fly because of my statement, good. I'd probably say more but the Vicodin I'm on makes me happy, like sunshine on a cloudy day happy,la.la.,la,la,la. so happy

The law deosn't state T-tops can't be traded in. The author just put that in for a joke saying someone should be posted at all dealerships to keep anyone from trading in a t-top equipped car.

And yes WI280ZX the 80's 300zx turbo models would qualify as they got a combined 18 mpg.

Yeah, I've thought about it, and this is a dumb bill. It is just so the politicians can feel like they are doing something! I doubt it will have much of an effect. They should have specified certain vehicles that could not be turned in due to their coolness factor! Like the z31 and old rx-7s! I would hate to see good examples get crushed. They should at least just go to a wrecker and be parted out!

Actually, this bill is more likely trying to get older cars (read: without black boxes) off the street.

The authorities LIKE the fact that after an accident involving a new car, they can just call up the info off the back box and tell how fast you were going, wether or not there was a passenger, if you both had seatbelts. Put that together with the NAVI systems in cars or aftermarket and FAST LANE E-PASSES, and they can learn an awful lot about you with very little effort.

Remembr when they HAD to recover the black boxes after an air crash? Well, now those boxes transmit all that info. You can rad about that in some of the articles about the recent AirFrance loss near Brazil. How long before the black boxes, already found in new cars today, are capable of transmitting your every driving move to the Registry of Motor Vehicles or Police Station?

No Yorgo that old car is older than 25 years and therefore does not qualify!

And Bozton you are exactly right. One day old cars will be outlawed for daily driving........and it will all be in the interest of saving "mother earth" and "the children" I f'ing HATE what this country has become!

Meanwhile countries that won't have to compete with self-imposed strangling legislation such as MO'bama's new "Climate Bill," will leave the US in the proverbial dust.

If this tard goes 8 years, look for strangling legislation on owning classic cars that will make it almost impossible to do so.

Just another step in sealing this countries DOOM!!

Laugh all you want but it is a master plan to bring the US down to it's knees.

The next major step will be to disarm all Americans. Make the choice now as to whether you are willing to FIGHT and possibly DIE for your rights, because that decision is coming.

Hell it wouldn't surprise me if someone in the government paid Michael Jackson's Doctor to purposely OD him on Demerol in order to distract Americans from the most HEINOUS piece of legislation AGAINST AMERICAN INTERESTS since the founding of our nation!

Yeah it sounds crazy, but our EVIL GOVERNMENT has a history of SCREWING OVER the American Public!!!

The climate change bill just passed, we are screwed. $5.00 a gallon gas is how they will make us buy little crapy cars we don't want. It will cost a fortune to drive a Z. Shame on the crooks in DC and those who support them with the biggest lie ever.

Good-by more jobs.

Ya know we almost impeach a man for getting his knob slobbed... Criticize a man for fighting terrorists that killed innocent Americans on our soil... Yet a retard driving our country into the ground faster than we can realize is praised by half this country based solely on the color of his skin and his 'willingness' to bring 'Change.'

I thought we did impeach a man for lying about getting his knob slobbed. Then we should be able to impeach for ruining our country in six months.

He wasn't impeached for getting his knob gobbled, he was impeached for LYING to a Grand Jury about getting his knob gobbled during an ongoing sexual assault case/ investigation. As an attorney, he should have known better than to lie to them.

One thing you don't do is lie to a Grand Jury. Better off sayin' nothin'.
