Iknow it is probably far fetched, but what about your timing belt streaching. I was known to streach them in less than 2000 miles. Not hard to check and worth a try. Looks like you tried everything else.

Well i did just replace the Tbelt this summer and was having the same problems before replacing. But this summer/spring I'm striping it down to recheck everything.

Kyle, I kick myself for not thinking about it, but what are your tire pressures? If they are low, that can kill gas milage.

Dunno lum, just got new tires like two months ago, so I'm sure they cant be too bad. But I am going to double check when I get home on the weekend.

My 2 cents, fix the vac leak first. I had an issue, car was running rich, not so good MPg, found a line broken off, fixed it and now I'm in the 20+ mpg range driving 15 miles each way to work, mostly stop and go on the way home. That's with a 93 2+2 n/a. Good luck.

93 na 2 + 2 more fun than all the vettes I've owned

1. A heated test on the O2's will confirm if you maybe got a bad one. New doesn't gaurantee their good.

2. Depending on what tires you have mounted on the cars 18s, it might be lowering your overall mileage and messing with your numbers... post your tire size and others might be able to speak more to this.

Kyle..

1) Verify timing. ( cant set timing if your over 1000 rpm.. )

2) Fix the Vac leak!!!!

3) Get the tire pressure UP!

4) Hows the alignment? More rolling resistance more friction more pedal...

My MPG is 240-275 a tank ( 2+2 )

Without searching back thru your posts, did you change the speedo gear with the 18s?

The torque converter could be operating in a less efficient range because the wheel rpms are lower at real revolutions per mile, effecting the engine rpm/torque converter point at which the engine and converter vanes are going the same speed (and assumedly most efficient as the stator is not wasting energy redirecting the fluid from turbine to pump), which say would normally be 40 mph but with the bigger wheels you would have to reach, say, 45 mph, for the transmission to see an output rpm that it thinks is 40 mph. At lower vehicle travel speeds the efficiency could be an even worse "mismatch" of engine rpm/converter speeds and efficiency with more loss thru the stator.

Make any sense?

Best bet is a Google, Z1 or Courtesy Nissan to see if different gears are even available. Then maybe you can pull it and check. Suspect no change made.

get a buddy with a stock car and a reliable speedometer, run next to eachother at 50, 60, 70 etc. if you're way off............

you can get on the highway and reset your odo at a mile marker. I put 17in g35 rims on my car and it is still exactly one mile when it clicks over. My gas mileage is shitty too. Im getting about 205 per tank. I used to get around 240.

The overall diameter of the tires is what matters, the diameter of the wheel doesn't matter at all. Look at your tire size (i.e. 245/40R18 or whatever it is) then look up a tire size calculator on Google. If you're within 5% of the stock tire diameter, your tire size isn't making much of a difference.

Found one online.

Entered stock size at 245/45/16
My size is 245/45/18

Says: speedometer reading is 8.1% too slow.
When traveling 60mph, I'm actually traveling 64.9mph

it does matter when it comes to weight. metal will always be heavier than rubber. the more metal the more weight, the more weight the more rotational mass, the more rotational mass the more gas you use up.

so multiply your total tank miles by 0.081 and then add that to the original number, then divide by the number of gallons and voila! you got your new more acurrate MPG
