fuel pressure test

Did fuel pressure test, turn ignition 38psi, start car 43 psi, good, my problem is have to crank 5-7 seconds before car starts, gas smell when does, no gas leaks anywhere, turn ignition pressures up to 38psi if i dont start the car and just leave it fuel pressure drops fairly rapidly, should system stay pressurized until i start car? Im thinking i have a fuel injector leaking, and if i do how do i determine which one, can i just isolate one side of fuel rail by pinching fuel line in front of car connecting the 2 fuel rails?

sniff the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose. You might have a faulty fuel pressure regulator if you smell any hint of gas.
