Gas Pedal getting stuck
Posted by: n1Zmo94

Hey guys got a situation here, on my way to work I always get to the free way, adn there was this douche on the fast lane going at 35 mph in a 65 mph lane, so I pass this douche but I punch it in the process I let off the gas at about 5k rpms then the car revs by itself almost untill redline, I basically had to kick the gas pedal to stop it, I get off and park at a stripes open the hood and start reviing thru the engine and it there's no problem there.

Long story short the gas pedal feels way to hard and if I force it as a soon it gives gas it gets stuck and it revs so fast to redline untill I kick it (chuck norris style).

any opinions on why it gets stuck??

Thank you and sorry for my grammar I'm so @#$%& pissed right now.

Are you sure it's not a floor mat bunched up? If not then the PCV tube may be the cause.

umm no is not the mat, I just spray the whole pedal and I mean all of it even where I can't reach with wd40 and it seems that it got loose a bit now I don't have to force that much and it doesn't rev all the way up that fast anymore.

I had that exact problem. It turned out to be the PCV tube on the drivers side popping out under full boost and preventing the throttle from returning. This is not evident when at idle and you are in the engine bay looking for the problem. Here is a ROBO write-up on the problem with pictures.

I pulled the tube out as far as I could with my fingers then plastered JB weld around it and pushed it back it. No more problem.

I had that happen in a high speed third gear turn on the race track on the last lap of a National race. I quickly turned off the engine and finished the race on the iginition key WFO. Yep, the PCV tube.

thanks alot guys I'll get on it as asoon as I get out for launch, this reminds me that old movie where a car gets the accelerator stucked and nothing can't stop it lol.

1 question tho when I was at the stripes I was reving it from the throttle body, how come it didn't get stuck from the throttle body???

Is this an NA? Less likely that it's the PCV tubes if it's an NA.

Check to see how smooth the cable moves when not connected to the TB shaft. Just disconnect it from the wheel at the TB shaft and move it in and out. If it's binding then it cable linkage related. If not then it's on the TB side. Check the PCV pipes to make sure that they're not loose just in case. Although they're on a vacuum during most driving conditions they can become positive pressurized at WOT because of pressure build up due too piston blow by.

There you go. You should find that the tube is loose and will move in and out. Just use some JB weld to keep it in place.

I almost wreck 2 times b/c of this problem before I found it. It happened 3 times total, 2 on the way back from florida in my Z. I almost rearended my mom b/c the throttle hung wide open on the interstate when I smoked my first honda the day I got my car. The second time was about a week later when I took a friend for a test drive. It got stuck permanent & I had to shut the car off to stop.

Btw my mom called me after I raced this honda and she was laughing her a** off asking why he even bothered.

I STILL have a zip-tie on mine.... pretty industrial strength zip-tie though. I had this happen on an on-ramp on a highway. I was quickly at the speed I wanted, but kept on going and going. I eventually had to shut the car off and pull over. Then figure out how to get the PCV hose back in its home because it was lodged pretty hard and the engine was hot.
