Cocky steering and other matters
Posted by: MegalodonZ32TT

I have new steering rack bushings, but the steering wheel still cockz to the right on accel and then settles back to TDC when stopping. So the bushings were not the fix.

Tension rods are tight....have new adjustable upper control arms.

Any brainstorms?...no one has nailed this one in 4 years.

Removed the braided line and AN connectors today and went back to black. The fuel leak is fixed.

I also capped off the clutch booster hose with a bolt and clamp and my boost leak is gone. But my left leg will get such a workout that if I'm ever in a plane crash-landing in the Gobi Desert and try to walk out, I'll walk a straight line rather than a left-handed circle.

Can anyone name that tune?

Have you checked your tire rod's?

I like it a lot, but I've had this one sitting around for years. I may still get Joe's bracket, but a polished "Z" fuel filter bracket won't show up much over a polished filter.

Does it return to center when you hit the brakes to stop or just rolling to a stop?

Check tire pressure in rear tires.

mega have you made sure your ball joints are good? Since we know how bad mine are, im thinking its what may be causing my varying pull, sometiems it pulls left sometimes right sometimes nothing (and no its not road crown it will do this on the same roads). juts a thought.

if not that, possibly the tie rod itself in the rack? But didnt you just replace the rack with a new one anyway?

It goes back to TDC while braking, not just stopping. Yup...new steering rack ($1200). All suspension parts are good, as I had the alignment shop check before ZDayZ when they dialed out some neg camber in the rear and aligned the front end.

I would think that one of your suspension links is shifting when braking due to a worn bearing/bushing/balljoint.

You can not always easily tell what is bad unless you remove the link from the car and inspect on a bench.

I think that Kandy was talking about steering tie rods not tension rods. You most likey replaced them with the new steering rack.

I have been doing a lot of research on tension rod end bearings. They can be worn out and give no indications when on the car. You can not grab a hold of the link and feel a looseness.

Sorry my post was of no real help. Trying to locate a bad suspension linkage is very fustrating. Esspecially when we have so many.

If its @#$%& when you accel most likely it is something in the rear of the car as that is what is getting loaded when you accel.

Worn/busted subframe bushings, Worn control arm bushings ect.

I liked Joe's bracket, but the Z isn't cut right...lower-right edge isn't accurate. Beautiful piece, but still hoping he corrects some day, or I'll get a shop to fill it (weld-in) and repolish. Maybe I'm just picky.
