Price is right and I need to buy a set for my JDM install. Are these as good as advertised?

Do not buy turbos off ebay.

I agree I say pay the little extra and buy them from Concept Z or Z1. peace of mind goes along way.

I wouldn't trust anyone that types sentences in 4 different colors in such a huge font.

The fact that they advertise a thrust bearing makes me LOL. That's about the crappiest thing they could get!

I was wary of the large font and colors as well. I will look around for a good deal on good turbo's. Really cant aford to spend $2k more on turbo's. I already have spent $12k on this car since March.

What about CHRA's? Could I replace all the internals and have a reliable turbo to use?

EDIT: Let me ask the question in a different way... What is the cheapest option to RELIABLY get turbos that will work for my application? I dont need high output or fancy high dollar turbo's, I dont plan on boosting over 14PSI with this engine.

I put a set of These (COZ) on my car and haven't had any problems (~1K miles).

The price was right and the rebuild seems to be of good quality.

GREAT! THANKS!

$600 for a pair is well within my buget.

Now, which do I want, the manual or auto turbos? I have a bad set of both for core's. I have a 5 speed car, but am putting in a auto JDM.

Faster spooling auto's or higher RPM manual's?

The mods I have are Z1 ECU, DW550 injectors, underdrive pulley, Stillen intake, ProFec B2 EBC.

I'd probably go with the manuals because of your supporting mods. Yes the auto's will spool faster but will also run out of steam sooner. Depends a lot on how you like to drive. If you tend to be in the higher RPM band more then the manuals are good. If you like to stay closer to the 2500 range then the autos will be a little faster onto the power.

I generaly like low end power more than high end. The one thing I did not like about my original engine was that I always had to stay in the upper RPM's to keep in the power.

My old engine built good boost around 4300 RPM's. Where does an auto turbo build boost at? 2,500 like you mentioned?

Ya, auto turbos tend to begin to build boost at around that RPM but it's not an exact thing since boost depends on load.

Go with the MT turbos, Stocks MT turbos will build plenty of boost at a low RPM with supporting mods.

SPDDRACER, my stock MT turbos on my old engine (with mods) built full boost at around 4300 RPM's. Is that not normal? You make it sound like it should be at full boost much closer to the 2,500 mark.....

something was maladjusted if your stock turbos werent booting until 4300rpm. stock 5spd turbos should be into 14lbs by 3krpm.

Thanks Luminar, good to know. That means there was yet another problem with my old engine and aux components. Good to be starting over with all new stuff. I will order the MT turbos as 3k RPM's is low enough for my liking.

they should start building ~1lb at 2100 ISH, thats all based on gear load and ambient air conditions like temp and elevation etc. but at sea level roughly 85 degrees and humid when i had stock MT turbos i started to build boost at about 2100 or 2200 and it was at 14lbs by 3100
