quick-fix fuel additives prior to smog testing: do they really work? testimonials welcome

I've got a 90TT and I'm considering using a fuel additive called "Amsoil PI" to help pass the smog test.
Looks like great stuff and it was highly recommended by a local performance shop.
I checked it out online and of course it's made out to be a miracle in a bottle.
Has anyone treated their fuel system with this?
I found a previous post mentioning some other products such as "SeaFoam Additive"
and "BG Fuel Injection System Cleaner". Also there's "Guaranteed to Pass".
Does this stuff really work?

Please share your experiences with these or other products.

Why do you think that you're not going to pass without it?

I think that pulling one of the VAC lines does a better job.

I won't tell you which one cause i think we should all be driving clean cars.

Or I forgot...

Thanks for the minimal input guys.
FYI to JT240: It already failed.
FYI to Mr. Pulldown: I know which vac line to pull. I'll be sure to keep it a secret too. Shhh

I posted specifically for product knowledge and/or experience using it.
So if anyone else cares to add to this and can offer first hand feedback, please do.

JT-
failed in all three areas,
NOx being way above gross polluter status.
these are the numbers on my smog test:
HC
15mph 184
25mph 143

CO
15mph 0.83
25mph 0.85

NO
15mph 2765
25mph 2393

what do you make of that?
I know that EGR function could be influencing this.

Yep, I'd start with the EGR. Easy to test.
