Rattles in first???

SO here is the ordeal, when I start from a complete stop, I feel a strong rattle coming from the engine, sometimes it feels like it's coming from the passenger side fender but only at initial pick up in 1st and 2nd gear. It's all smooth after that. I was thinking maybe the engine mounts are giving away and was wondering if somebody could point out as to where those are located, then I could make sure.
Also, if you have other ideas for the cause for the rattling or stumbling, please feel free to share.

Motor mounts are on the motor. They reside between the motor and the frame.

Ha ha. Had to be a smart a$$.

Take a look at Kandies pictures. You can see both of the mounts in the picture with teh engine out. You can see them when you are in the car though it isn't easy. I think you get a good veiw from the bottom.

They are kind of hard to tell that they are crack. Best way is to have some one rev the engine while you have your head in there with a flash light. Do be careful of spinning parts and long hair and lose clothing. Do I have a story on that one: when I was working as a student machine shop supervisor, and this kid came in with long hair didn't tie it up, working on the lathe... At least I wasn't working that day.

You can use FORD motor mounts instead of Nissan's. Same size less money. FAQ.

Thanks man. However, do you think that might be the reason for the rattling sound?

I used the ford mounts. They are great. And the are quite a bit sturdier than the oem ones.

Im here because I dont have any real life friends.

I don't know. I am just basing it on what you told us.
But it is sound logic to think that your mounts might be toast. Inspect to either confirm or deny.

A warpped flywheel/pressure plate can have bad start up vibrations as well. But those are pretty noticably the clutch.

I know that if I bogg 2nd, I get a horrible vibration.

What kind of "rattle", tinny sound ? Could be exhaust related.

if its a vibration-like rattle it could be a bearing in the drive shaft. it usually happened around 3 grand in first. happened to mine and i needed a new drive shaft now its fine. but since i didnt personally experience it its kind of hard.

hmmm...it's more of a strong pulsation or vibration coming from the passenger side fender area, or atleast that's what I feel. It only happens at initial pick up in first and second gears and disappears after that or maybe becomes insignificant.
However, those are good suggestions. Thank you.
