anyone else here done the r32 caliper/rotor upgrade? what are the exact size differences? my stock brakes work just fine but in the future i'd like to check out the local autocross community and would be interested in some better braking power.

Luminar...

I think they are like 12.2? Don't quote me on that. That enough size, I think though that I would rather do 350z track rotor upgrade that are NEW as opposed to something used that may be shot to hell. I think there is a guy on TT.net selling 12.5 inch rotors with Wilwood aluminum hats, brackets and lines for like 450.00 bucks.

I have installed the R32 GTR brakes on my car. I bought the calipers & rotors brand new from performance nissan, and used axxis ultimate pads all around with ate super blue dot 4 fluid. I had already installed stop-tech ss lines, rebuilt my rear calipers (took 3 months to get the rebuild kit so beware!) and bought new rear rotors (undrilled brembos). I also have the brake brace.

The R32 calipers are designed to accomodate 32mm thick rotors unlike stock 30mm (or - god help you - 26mm!); I can't remember the exact diameter of the rotors but they are only about .25" to .5" max larger in diameter. I bought the undrilled versions as I am told the drilled ones are notorious for cracking early in their life. The calipers clear my 17" wheels fine, but I have a 30mm "project kicks" spacer (the best out there imo - needed it to make up for wheel offset) so I picked up a few mm in clearance. Stock wheels would need a little spacer to clear I think; I would hate to see someone GRIND the calipers just to make them fit - just get a spacer.

The setup works really great, takes alot longer for them to fade and they recover faster. The rotors are vented via a "spiral" vane shape unlike the normal radial vanes on stock brakes. While they are an upgrade, I can still fade them pretty bad under repetitive hard braking - I am SLIGHTLY disappointed. Like I said, it takes longer and recovers faster, but they aren't 4 pot AP's, alcons, etc. I might try out some different pads, and I'm sure they could benefit from slotted rotors - but finding 32mm wide rotors aill be hard. R32 GTR model specific - needle in a haystack.

If you plan on buying them, get them from Performance Nissan of Duarte, Cali. They are $100 cheaper per caliper than Courtesy! Also take the time to rebuild the rear brakes as well. I couldn't justify spending that much on new front brakes and ignore the rear. FYI all of the Z32 brake hardware (30mm) works with the GTR calipers. Shims, reatiners, clips, etc.

Hope that helps!

I still want some gold Alcons though :)

well i have a 90 with the damn 26mm caliper/rotor, so i'd be ineterested in also moving my rears atleast up to the later year 30mm.
