Checking Date Of Tire Birth
Posted by: sluggoZ

After several years (May '07)...I decided yesterday to check out my Toyo T1 R tire manufacturing date...to my surprise the two tires on the passenger side have the tire date & the two tires on the drivers side shows no date. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/sluggoZ/hmm.gif

I should of check this first when I received my tires....my bad....now I'm wondering if I ended up with "seconds"...these tires were purchased from Tiredeals4less at excellent prices.
The front passenger side tire read 4906 meaning 49th week of '06 year.
The rear passenger side tire read 2506 meaning 25th week of '06.
The other two tires???????????

Just letting everyone know that it is very important to check the tire mfgt. date when buying tires....the dealer can only sell tires no more than 2 years old.
Tires over 6 years old should be replaced.

"seconds" not being #1 in quality....defects & etc. or re-capped tires used for snow tires....

Mods you can move this thread to the 350Z forum....http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/sluggoZ/oops.gif

i'm sure your tires are fine. i think they save the re-treading for semi truck tires.

*********************************

Maybe now days they only retread tires for semi trucks. But, when I was going to College I had new re-treads on my 1960 Impala convertible. BTW "seconds" are not re-capped tires used for snow tires. "Seconds" are minor defects in a new tire, such as the raised white letters didn't print correctly or something like that. As such they are unable to sell it as a "1st line tire" and normally reduce the price and sell it as a 2nd. The tire is still "new" and hasn't any problems that would endanger the public.
