Manuals. FSM's are full of great info such as instructions for code retrieval, diagnostic tests you can run at home, electrical schematics, and...
pictures and actual locations of parts on your car. There may be a complete list of FSM's here: [
www.xenonzcar.com].
Haynes manuals are also very useful and can pay for themselves with one DIY repair job. There are some very knowledgeable people here whose names I recognize from the old days at z31.com and I'm sure there are a few I'm not familiar with who have come on the scene since I stopped posting here a few years back so this forum could have a nice niche between the performance oriented z31p.com and 88Hybrid.com which is basically a chat board.
1. Ask questions before you take action that results in permanent damage.
2. When someone like redoctober, slicktop, phxZ31, etc tries to help you with your problem, make an effort to cooperate.
1984, 1986, and 1988 are available at [

If you have an '85 get the '84 FSM. The only difference I recall is the water cooled turbo...no big deal. 1987 can use an '86/'88 combo. 1989 can use 1988.
You can look up any major differences here: [

There is a good list of frequently asked questions here: [

Common sense and experience on many different car boards tells me that something like this has probably been posted before but it's worth restating.
