N/A to T

ok, i have a 1986 300zx, with the 3.0l v6 engine
i want to convert to a turbo, i found the exhaust
manifolds on ebay, original, off a z32, my question is
would they fit my 86? the guy says there from a z32, im
guessing a 90 or 91, and says he was going to use them
on his z31, but he's not sure they'd fit, so would
they fit the 3.0l v6?

also, the flange off those is a T3, right?
would i get a T3 or a T3/T4? whats the diff?

Yo!!! A Z32 is a twin turbo set up. The turbo exhaust manifolds are completely different. I think he might have tried to do it and realized you can't. I wouldn't get a Z32 exhaust manifold to turbo your Z31. Get all Z31 stuff and upgrade with that in mind.

You could possibly do it, only if you want to pay money to fabricate a new exhaust system and use the z32 turbos and a custom made inlet manifold.

Has anyone thought of doing that? I think it's an interesting set up. I wish I had both engines in front of me to check out how the intake manifolds line up.

what i was thinking, since i just want one turbo, leaving a stock exhaust manifold, and bolting only one turbo exhaust manifold. also i'm not bolting an original one, im bolting a universal turbo, for wich i am making the custom exhauste piping setup, and the piping to the intercooler, well, basically all piping. but would the turbo exhaust mani line up and bolt dirrectly on to the vg30 block? and what would be the mods needed on the intake?

It is not as simple as a few words.

1st you need a oil hole taken from the block to go to the turbo.
2nd you need an oil drain hose to go to the sump.
3rd you need the right injectors and ECU.
4th you need the turbo manifold.. You cannot use just one z32 turbo manifold, I cannot imagine what this would do to the Z31 motor if you did. Something like a snapped crankshaft.

Then we could go into alot of other details you need, there are writeups and stuff and yeah you just need to search the internet and links within this forum.

After re-reading the initial post and coming across this bit, I've decided that you have neither the knowledge nor capability to turbocharge your vehicle. leave it alone.

Yes. the way to go from N/A to T in your case is to sell your N/A and purchase a running T.

I think I just got dummer reading this post.
