Frustrated!

Does anybody know a trick to hold the woodruff key in place when installing the crankshaft pulley? No matter what i do the pulley just pushes it out of alignment going on...why didn't they extend the groove all the way to the end of the crankshaft?

umm, a TINY dab of superglue will hold it in place well enough to put the pulley on, while still allowing you to remove the key later if necessary.

I just tapped it in with a hammer slightly.

groove is made to hold a woodruff key not a square key which is why it is made as it is. woodruff key looks like a half circle. If you can't get the pully on I'd check the slot on the pulley to make sure there aren't any burrs or dings in there which are catching on the key.
