How do you get ahold of the Mods?...I have a question
Posted by: whtfairladyz

Hey Mods,
Just out of curiosity. I noticied how 92Fairladyz posted an "EVENT RECAP" of his trip to the West Coast Z Nationals. Great post...and I am glad that he shared his experience. I hope to see alot more posts from everyone else's events and outings.

The point of my post..and the question I have.

Russell from Z1 Motorsports posted his event recap for everyone from the Z Attack in Nashville, Tenn here in the Z32 section. Again, another great event recap with alot of great pictures.

But what I, aswell as many others, do not understand why you felt the need to relocate his post to the General car talk forum? Could you explain you reasoning further?

There have been TONS of posts made by others on here, including myself, that have included pics of cars not even associated with Zs.

A prime example..me, JT240Z, Z1 Zonely and a few others generally posts pics from such events as the Walter Mitty Challenge and Petit LeMans.

Here is Z1 Zonely's Petit recap a while ago:

Here is mine from the Petit Last year:

All of which remained in the Z32 section without any redirecting by the mods, but the posts were well recieved by those in the section and generated alot of conversation.

They do it at will to be honest.

It doesn't make much sense to any of us, but it is a rule of the forums and perhaps most of us are just thankful that they don't enforce it strictly all the time and leave it at that.

Might be a prestige thing. Or maybe the mods just don't go over every single post.

The mods on this forum are awesome, be thankful it's not like 300zxclub where they are a bunch of sniveling wankers changing peoples post subjects etc. just because they don't like what it says.

Maybe it's the difference between an individual posting about events that they attended and a company posting about events that they sponsored?

JT240Z...you may be right. But I still dont see the difference, an event recap is a recap.

Either way, all you want to do is just to show everyone what took place. The awesome time you had...make some guys jealous...and hope that those who did not attend, ATTENDS next year.

I m not trying to spread any seeds of discontent among the Z community against any Mods whatsoever. And I am not hinting to any Z1 backlash by the mods.

I would just like to hear the Mods decision for the move.

Frankly, I did not see any harm in his post. THE ONLY, thing I saw that might offend the Mods was the fact that Russell put a hyperlink to the Z1 Motorsporst Website linking you to the FULL photo album. But again, I really do not see any harm in that either. It was probably alot more convenient to share a massive amount of pictures that way, vs re-uploading them to the ZCAR.com website.

As for the comments about not being Z32 related, posted above. If you followed the link that Russell posted in his first comment, there is a whole section of great Pics of Z32's..including RAGTPZ convertible.

Dont know what to tell you. Some mods interpret the rules differently than others. There are many moderators on this site. What is "tech" to one could be "car talk" to another. Moderating is not an exact science. This is supposed to be a "tech forum" but more lattitude is given here regarding posts that in the 1st gen forum, for example because that's what the members prefer.

In the future, please do not post these type of threads in the "tech" forums. Post them in the Help section or email myself or the Site Admin. Thanks.

I apologize, in all my time here at Zcar.com I have never visited th HELP section before and honestly did not know it even existed.

Aswell, I did not know how to get into contact with you directly without posting.

However I also believe that this type of discussion should be a public one for the community to review.

As for the comment between "car talk" vs "tech"...there is alot of both mixing it up on the forum boards. I reviewed the previous 3 pages of postingsin the Z32 forum and found a far share of "Tech" posts with members asking for opinions, aid and advice.

However, I DID find quite a few postings where I COULD categorize them as "Car Talk".

And then there are alot of postings that blur the lines between the two. The posting about guys telling about their successes, woes or near misses are not exactly "Tech". They may have technical terms, data values or exact descriptions, but in the end. They are just stories....stories from which guys make remarks, ask questions and make suggestions.

My only request is that things remain FAIR. I felt that it was all to conveinent that a post by Russell was so quickly redirected.

That is my .02, and I will not continue this post further.

We try to be fair in all we do here. Once thing to consider, when a thread is moved to Car Talk it is likely to be viewed and enjoyed by MORE people since Car Talk is more heavily trafficked than this forum. It should not be viewed as something derogatory, necessarily. Especially if a "moved" link is left on this board, that allows people from both forums to find and enjoy the post. Perhaps the mods enjoyed the post so much they wanted everyone to see it?

p.s. this thread will be moved to the Help section soon enough.

I'm with JT, there's a huge difference between an individual who had a fun weekend, to a company sharing pics of an event THEY sponsored. One's motivation is to share the experience with others, the other's motivation could arguably be marketing and advertisement.
Good job mods.

Ah, but where does Russell stop being an individual...just like you and me. And where does he become simply a shop owner??

Yes Russell owns one of the largest Z shops in the country. But just like me and you, he has a love for the Z cars (Or he wouldn't be in the business, Gods knows that there are more lucrative industries out there).

If you think Russell's goal was simply for advertising and to show off an event he sponsered...why would you bash that.

This website is funded by SPONSORS! Without SPONSORS showing off what they are about, what they care for and supporting the events they choose to go to. This whole industry, and community, would simple wither and die.

Having active businesses within the community is not a bad thing.

As for the whole advertisement comment...One could argue that 92Fairladyz is making an add ploy for Charles and PowerTrix in his event recap of ther West Z Coast Nationals...which is also sponsored and owned, conveintly, by Motorsports Auto.
