August 2007 Z Car of the Month - Chris' '72 240Z
Posted by: joker72z
Date: July 02, 2007 09:31AM

I'm a relatively new member to zcar.com and thought I'd share my ride with everyone. It's a stock 72 240Z except for the paint which is 80's laquer that needs to be re-done. Overall it's quite nice with new floors coming this winter and some mild engine work to improve the overall performance.

Thanks justinrhenry. The car actually is pretty bone stock but the engine compartment has been highly detailed and some chrome added, a pertronix ignition and flamethrower coil, strut bars and new brakes all around. Oh yeah..the jdm chrome headlight covers which were a throw in when I bought it..woo hoo. As mentioned above, the paint needs to be redone and the floors are getting fatigued after 35 years so I am replacing them with the zedd findings replacements. Interior is mint with exception to the one crack in the dash and the vinyl and carpet are original. Last but not least is Mr. K's signature on the sun visor for good luck.
Hmmm, can you tell I love my Datsun...

It looks pretty stock to me other than the lip and headlight covers...
I think its awesomeness.

Thanks phxZ31. It's incredibly hard to find cars in Canada let alone those that are rust free. This one comes via California so there isn't much I needed to worry about.

Thanks Datto240z. I'm flattered that everyone likes the car. I'm sure I am like all of you when I say that even though it looks good, I still find things I would like to do to it to make it better. Only time and money will tell.

I think that pretty much goes without saying when you own any Z car.

The paint looks great to me, as does the rest of the car. You can be proud of that!

Thanks mikeatrpi. I try to keep it polished but old laquer has that orange peel and it doesn't look really deep. I can't complain though as the car really does show pretty well and I have an absolute blast driving it.
You guys at zcar.com have been very gracious with your praise and the forums have been a big help. I'm glad I joined.

Hi Iceman..thanks for the kind words. I am in British Columbia but originally from Ontario. I have seen 50 or 60 cars out here and all are in really nice shape thanks to no snow. Are any of the guys on here from Canada?

I figured BC by the scenery. I live in Calgary.
There are quite a few members on here from Canada, pretty much coast to coast too.

Thanks Khromalusional...I can say the same for yours. Mine actually came stock with the 112 lime yellow paint but someone decided black was better in the 80's...I agree even though the yellow is cool. It looks like you have a beautiful ride.
