Stroker folks...Question

Regarding the rear main seal...
The LD28 crank does not have a lip on the rear of the crank like the l28.
Everything I read has no mention of this. Is there any issue here? I assume the lip keeps the seal in place.

Here's a pic. The rear seal is sitting on the L28. Sorry only good pic. Didn't want to dig the crank back out. But you can see the lip on the end of it. The LD28 (V07) omits the lip.

Please offer advice.
thanks, steve

I'm pretty sure that "lip" is a spacer for the flex plate for auto transmissions, it should knock off the back of the crank.

When I put the L28 into my 70, it was from an automatic 280Z, and it had that lip. It was hard to get off, I read here to heat it with a propane torch to make it easier to get off, and it worked like a dream. The flywheel may fit over it, and then you won't know its wrong until you bolt up the transmission and wonder why the car wont move, then you change the slave cylinder then the throwout collar and then it comes to swearing and breaking down and listening to your kid about using the internet to find an answer. Once you find the answer, you start lurking around places like this because sometimes you do find answers!
Not that I would swear or anything like that, after spending all that time and money. Perish the thought. Sometimes the kid is right. Not often, but sometimes. LOL

Thanks dj. After your post I dug out the crank and it is a separate piece.

leave that spacer off if your are using a manual transmission.

or put in on the stroker crank if you are using an automatic transmission.
