offensive looking dashboard

I am redoing my whole interior in tan so upon removing the dash and stripping it of its components I use Rust O Lium vinyl and fabric spray paint. its a worthless product. but my dash is cracked and ugly for some reason the paint just doesnt want to stick to it and now it has runs and bubbles.

I refuse to spend the money on a new one or having it proffesionally redone. im alrady way over budget. so is there some kind of wall paper like material that I could heat shrink over the existing vinyl? Or if anyone knows where to get a cheap dash.

A full dash cover for 100.00 from black dragon or motor sport i did mine and it will fool a lot of people and it looks great , i wish it was the real thing but its close and cheap it goes right over and you glue it down .

Why not just buy a dash cap and put it on. Otherwise, we also sell dash mats for a lot less.
If you're going to paint a dash, first you need to scuff it with ammonia and a green scotchbrite, then wipe it down with wax and degreaser. Try using SEM vinyl bumper paint instead, it's alot better product and it's available at most automotive paint stores.

I've got a brand new NOS dashboard for a ZX with auto climate control. You could make me an offer if you'd like.

My dash is ugly too. I was using "Great Stuff" house spray foam (about $4 a can at walmart) for sound proofing some of my car and tried filling in the cracks with what was left in the can. It appears to work good I didn't have enough left to completely fill the cracks but it looks solid and you can carefully cut off and shape any excess material with a razor blade. For painting the dash I would think regular Rustoleum stop rust paint might work as it worked great on the paint job on the outside of my car and seems to stick to everything but I have tried it on a dashboard yet.

Budget? Are you seeking to resell the car at a profit? As mentioned, a dash cap would probably fit the bill. If you can't afford one, do like I do: save up for it and do it right.

It funny how people will spend twice as much money trying to jerry rig something rather than doing it right from the get go.....

Dash Cover $100
New Dash $800

Those are your choices.

What are you like $50-$100 into paint and effort right now????? Should have just bought the dash cover.

Well I just painted the dash and whole interior with dupli color vinyl and fabric paint. it works great. looks good except for the cracks. I will just get a carpet cover from ebay for about 25$ which I have seen.
