Boost guage
Posted by: madkaw

I can't seem to find in the FSM anything about the boost guage. Mine stopped working right after I installed my reman turbo. I don't even know how the guage is powered(vacuum or wired)???? I'm thinking i disconnected something, but I can't figure it out. Any advice?

thanks Steve

It is electric, no vacuum lines.

I replaced mine in the stock location with an autometer gauge which uses a vacuum line and shows vacuum as well.

I'm assuming that your Z is an 81 - 83 280zxt. The stock boost gauge is electric. The sending unit is small square black box, attached to the driver's side front inner wheel wheel, near the headlight washer tank. It has a vacuum hose that runs over the the intake manifold.

quick question,
now that i have a vacuum/boost gauge that runs a direct vacuum line to the intake manifold, do i still need the boost sensor that ran the stock gauge?

As said above, get an autometer guage and install in teh dash. You need to run a vacuum line to the back of it and wire in the light.
