dash cover install ?'s

hey guys, im about ready to install my plastic dash cover on my 83zx, i've done a few searches on this forun and hybridz and found that some people use velcro strips and some use the supplied glue. my question for those that may have installed a cover is which is better? my car is no show car by any means, but the weathered dash really needs to be covered. any tips would be great. keep in mind that i will be doing this myself (hard to get a set of helpin hands in my rurual area) im a lil concerned about the thin areas by the glovebox too, not sure what would hold it best. as always, thanks

Trim down the cracked areas first, shave off the "lips" to the level of the surrounding dash. (eww). Clean everything up really well. Have a supply of weights for the top of the dash, and sticks cut to length to wedge between the seats and the front of the dash. If you want to be able to open the glove compartment afterwards, cut either the cap, or shave off the edges of the door (test fit it to see what I mean). Test fit it first in any case to see if you need to trim anywhere else. A utility knife works fine.

I used the supplied glue, it's been about a year and it's holding up fine. On the driver's side edge, it popped up a little where I wasn't able to get anything to hold it down, but no one notices, and it looks a HECK of a lot better than the old, cracked dash.

My glue came undone after a couple years. You can also use a football and wedge it between the dash and windshield to hold it down. Be sure to clean the dash well with alcohol so either glue or tape will stick.
